This year’s 1-day Symposium “Cold Day” is co-organised by the University Hospital of Geneva, Monika Brodmann and Alex Kottmann from the University of Bern as well as Bruno Durrer from Lautenbrunnen, and will be held prior to the 9th Swiss Mountain Rescue Medical Meeting “Hot Day” in Interlaken, Switzerland.
Accidental deep hypothermia with cardio-respiratory arrest is a challenging pathology for healthcare professionals, ranging from the rescue team to the cardiovascular surgeon, anaesthesiologists and ICU specialists.
This Symposium includes the Swiss Expert Group on Accidental Hypothermia which is aimed at coordinating experience, research and education with local and international rescue teams and hospital staff for discussing better resuscitation techniques and algorithms.
"The Cold Day" is this year’s topic and we plan to emphasize the need for wide national and international awareness of accidental hypothermia and the need to work together for better networking to improve the outcome of future hypothermia victims.
